Jedriličarski klub Uljanik
Jedriličarski klub Uljanik is a long-established sailing club in Pula on Croatia’s Istrian Adriatic coast and one of the oldest member clubs of the Uljanik Workers’ Sports Association. Based at the sheltered Bunarina harbour on the Verudela peninsula, the club races and trains on courses in Pula Bay and the northern Adriatic. It runs a summer sailing school for children in Optimist and for adults, offers daily training in Optimist and ILCA, and rents Laser Stratos boats with experienced skippers. Each year the club organises or co-hosts about five regattas, including Bunarina Opti Kup, ILCA Dani Uljanika, the Pesaro–Pula crossing, Pulska regata and Istarska regata. After the sailing school, juniors can join the racing team and regularly compete in national and international events.
History
Jedriličarski klub Uljanik is among the oldest members of the Uljanik Workers’ Sports Association (Radničko-sportsko društvo Uljanik) in Pula. The club brings together sailors in Optimist, ILCA and cruiser classes and has become a fixture of the Istrian sailing scene. Over the years it built a regular racing programme and organises or co-hosts around five regattas a year at Bunarina harbour, in Pula Bay and across the northern Adriatic. Signature events include Bunarina Opti Kup, ILCA Dani Uljanika as a ranking regatta, the Adriatic crossing Pesaro–Pula within Sulla rotta dei trabaccoli, Pulska regata for City of Pula Day, and Istarska regata along the Istrian coast. Parallel to racing, the sailing school became a core education offer: summer courses for children in Optimist and for adults; graduates may join the racing team and continue training in Optimist. Today competitors train daily ashore and afloat under expert coaching, while Laser Stratos boats are available for courses and charter with experienced skippers. The Bunarina base is well sheltered and logistically convenient for demanding events, and the club uses Sailwave for race scoring.
