JK Primošten
JK Primošten is the official sailing club of Primošten on Croatia’s Adriatic coast. Based in Porat near the former ferry pier, it benefits from a central Adriatic location with many sunny and windy days. The club offers training and racing in Optimist, ILCA classes and Laser Pico, plus a long tradition of sport catamaran sailing. Youth sailing runs year-round with a summer school; annual highlights include Kup Primoštena and the catamaran regatta. Since starting in 2003, the club has hosted several Croatian championships and works closely with the Municipality of Primošten and partner clubs.
History
JK Primošten began operations on 3 October 2003 at Camp Adriatic and has been based in Porat by the former ferry pier in Primošten since 2008. The club runs several regattas each year for Optimist, catamarans and cruisers and maintains international ties, especially with CV La Scuffia from Pescara, Italy. Over about 14 years it organised some 30 regattas, including the Croatian championship for Optimist under 12 (2013), the Olympic classes championship (2015) and Trofej Primoštena, a criteria regatta for Optimist in the southern region (2018). Club members helped bring the F18 sport catamaran class under the Croatian Sailing Federation HJS. Co-founder and catamaran sailor Tomislav Ilić was commemorated with the 12th edition of the catamaran regatta in 2020. The club owns five Optimist dinghies from sponsorships and donations and two Laser Pico boats; up to ten children sail year-round and up to thirty attend the summer sailing school. Primošten’s mid-Adriatic location and favourable wind and wave conditions make it a strong venue for camps and major events. The Municipality of Primošten and partners such as Under the Heavens support regatta organisation.
