Stowarzyszenie Jachtklub Elbląg
Stowarzyszenie Jachtklub Elbląg is the official sailing club and marina operator in Elbląg on the left river bank with its own yacht harbour. The facility offers a basin for 77 craft in y-booms or on buoys, access to a 10-tonne crane, hangar and boat workshop, plus 30 overnight beds in the club building. Year-round sailing training for children aged 9 to 12 on Optimist dinghies is the core of youth development; the sailing school also uses Laser Pico boats and escort RIBs. The club organises and supports regattas on the Vistula Lagoon, international starts and club events, continuing since 1959 the tradition of Ognisko Wodne TKKF Zamech.
History
The history of the Elbląg yacht club dates back to 1959, when Ognisko Wodne Towarzystwa Krzewienia Kultury Fizycznej „Zamech“ was founded in Elbląg. In subsequent years this water section became Jachtklub Elbląg; since 2001 the association has operated as Stowarzyszenie Jachtklub Elbląg. Under the statutes the club continues the work of Ognisko Wodne TKKF Zamech. For more than 60 years it has shaped social life in Elbląg and the region by promoting sailing. The seat is Elbląg; the club owns built premises and a yacht basin at ul. Radomska 29 and a yacht pier on the Vistula Lagoon at Suchacz-Nadbrzeże. In 2013 it gained public benefit organisation status. Since September 2019 it has run Elbląska Szkółka Żeglarska under the patronage of the Mayor of Elbląg and with the local sports school. Commercial activities such as accommodation and hall hire serve statutory aims; all proceeds fund club work.
