History
The Intscheder Wehr Wassersport Verein e.V. is a multi-discipline club registered with the German Sailing Association (DSV number N193) and the German Water Ski and Wakeboard Association (DWWV) in Ottersberg. Through its division into disciplines, members can be assigned to the respective federations, which is important for training courses such as specialist exercise leaders or coaches. In May 2020, Friedhelm Eckert stepped down as first chairman after seven years for personal reasons and remained on the board as secretary. Christian Eckert succeeded him as second chairman; Angelique Juhl joined the board as second chairwoman, while Sven Wuschke remained treasurer. In 2023, the club planned to expand the rear pontoon with changes to berth allocation; elections for key board positions were also due, as elections in 2020 and 2021 had been cancelled and some positions had only been elected for one year. A club cruise in calendar weeks 22 or 23 was planned in conjunction with a club from Stuttgart. At the annual general meeting on 26 April 2024, Andreas Neumann was elected as the new first chairman after Christian Eckert was no longer available for the role. The club decided to keep Thursday as the club meeting day at the Weser. At the AGM on 4 April 2025, Sigrid Engmann was elected treasurer and Angela Stuke secretary; Friedhelm Eckert and Sven Wuschke left the board after many years of service. The club maintains the tradition of Baltic Sea club cruises: in 2014, members sailed two boats from Aalborg towards the Kattegat and visited the island of Læsø; in 2015, eleven sailors set off from Dyvig in Denmark with two boats, including the first chairman's Merlin from the Limfjord and a chartered Sun Odyssey 42. Holiday activity programmes for children, as documented in 2017, are also part of club life.
