Hyvinkään Pursiseura ry
Hyvinkään Pursiseura ry (HYP / HYPPI) is a Finnish sailing and boating club founded in 1982, based in Hyvinkää with its home harbour on Kråkö island in the Porvoo archipelago. Despite having no home waters in Hyvinkää itself, the club runs a 20-berth pontoon pier with a grill hut, storage and parking. Members can use club boats including Zoom8 dinghies and a rowing boat; the fishing section has a Buster boat. The club belongs to the Finnish Sailing and Boating Federation SPV, offers boat inspections, junior activities and social events, and has around 160 members with very affordable fees.
History
Hyvinkään Pursiseura ry was founded in 1982. The founding meeting took place on 2 April 1982 during an archipelago skipper course, with 44 founding members present. The following year the club began its own boat inspection service and membership grew to 107. Officials created a club flag that was inaugurated in 1984. The first main goal set at the founding meeting was to acquire an own boat harbour. On 19 April 1982 the board first approached Hyvinkää city administration to advance the harbour project. Earlier municipal attempts to buy coastal land (1980 in Pernaja, later Bjurss on Orslandet) were lost to faster buyers. In December 1982 the club and thirteen other Hyvinkää associations submitted a petition for a seaside site. Today the club uses its home harbour on Kråkö island in the Porvoo archipelago, with a volunteer-renewed 20-berth pontoon pier, grill hut, storage and outdoor toilet. The club currently has about 160 members and belongs to Suomen Purjehdus ja Veneily (SPV).
