Helsingør Sejlklub

Helsingør Sejlklub is an active sailing club on the Øresund in Helsingør with its clubhouse at Strandpromenaden 6, directly by the northern harbour and within sight of Kronborg Castle. The club runs a clubhouse, dinghy house, grill building, storage and workshop and welcomes juniors, cruising sailors and racing sailors alike. Facilities include club boats of the J/70 and J/80 classes for school and shared sailing, dinghy berths and a youth section for sailors under 25. The programme covers Wednesday racing, the distance race Hven Rundt, the traditional Round Zealand (Sjælland Rundt), cruising trips, a sailing school with practical and theoretical training, and VHF courses. With more than 450 members and over 40 volunteers, the club is a fixture of the sailing scene on the Sound between Denmark and Sweden.

History

Helsingør Sejlklub sees itself as a sailing club for all ages – for racing and cruising sailors as well as members who value harbour community life. The board is responsible for operating and maintaining the clubhouse, dinghy house, grill building with adjoining rooms, storage and the workshop behind the harbour office, and also manages lease agreements with HavneGrillen and Kronborg Havbad. The dinghy house hosts the youth section for sailors under 25. With more than 40 volunteers the club organises joint cruises, Wednesday racing, the distance race Hven Rundt and the traditional Sjælland Rundt, lectures, end-of-season parties and the Friday bar. The sailing school uses J/80 keelboats in the distinctive waters around Kronborg between Denmark and Sweden; 2025 course participants rated willingness to recommend the school at an average of 9.79 out of 10. Keelboat club championships are held annually at the end of the season on the Øresund; Wednesday racing and championship results include classes such as J/70, J/80, H-Boot, X 35, X 41, X-99 and 806. The Klubbens venner group handles minor building maintenance, including plans for an enlarged terrace between youth and senior areas and preparing unused Optimist dinghies. SeniorWalk typically meets on Thursdays at 10:00 in front of the clubhouse and strengthens social ties in the harbour.
