Hals Bådelaug

Hals Bådelaug is a sailing and motor yacht association with around 150 members in the harbour of Hals in North Jutland, Denmark. The club manages a large part of the water area in the western harbour section including pontoons and buildings and welcomes about 5,000 visiting boats each year. Members gather in the Sejlerloftet overlooking the Limfjord and the Kattegat; guests use the sailors' lounge, barbecue terrace, sanitary facilities and a pirate playground. Weekly Tuesday races at 19:00 in spring and autumn as well as spring and autumn cruises to Læsø shape the sailing programme. Since its founding on 22 March 1973 the association has promoted recreational sailing and maintains high standards for members and guests.

History

Hals Bådelaug was founded on 22 March 1973. The purpose of the association is to support interest in sailing with both sailing and motor boats; recreational and commercial fishing are not part of the club's purpose. The association controls a large part of the water area in Hals Harbour and is responsible for pontoons and buildings in the western harbour area. For leisure craft Hals Bådelaug is the harbour authority, while commercial vessels fall under Aalborg Municipality. The club is led by a board and four sub-committees: operations (daily running, buildings and facilities), sailing (events on the water), activities (social events) and PR (website and marketing). The harbour approach is at 56°59′4″ N / 10°18′5″ E and is well marked and lit. About 5,000 guest boats call at the harbour each year. In 2022 the club built a pirate playground next to the clubhouse using Danish production to make the harbour more family-friendly. The clubhouse serves members and guests; the Sejlerloftet on the first floor is the daily meeting place with views of the Limfjord and the Kattegat.
