Klub Żeglarski Zagłębie
Klub Żeglarski Zagłębie is a sailing club from Sosnowiec in the Zagłębie region, with its club office at ul. Rzeźnicza 12 and a sailing base on Zalew Przeczycko-Siewierski in Boguchwałowice. The club has a marina with a hangar and floating pier and runs a sailing school licensed by the Polish Yachting Association PZŻ. It offers youth training in Optimist and Cadet, courses for the żeglarza jachtowego patent, and participation in regional regattas and sea cruises. As regional operator of the PGE PolSailing programme, the club encourages children and teenagers to take up sailing. Since its founding in 1975, the club has combined club life, training and racing on the Przeczyce reservoir.
History
On 10 June 1975 the club was registered with the Katowice regional sailing association and began operating under the patronage of the Polish Tourist and Sightseeing Society PTTK, financially supported by the management of Kopalnia Sosnowiec. On 21 January 1986 it came under the patronage of TKKF (Towarzystwo Krzewienia Kultury Fizycznej) and received modest funding for recreational activities. After the closure of Kopalnia Sosnowiec, from 18 October 2001 full documentation was prepared to register Klub Żeglarski Zagłębie at the Voivodeship Court in Katowice as an independent economic unit with its own accounts. Since then the club has run its sailing base on Zalew Przeczycko-Siewierski, organised youth schools and żeglarza jachtowego patent courses as a licensed PZŻ sailing school, and hosted regattas such as the Puchar Prezydenta Miasta Sosnowca within Puchar Śląska. Members also take part in Baltic sea cruises, documented among others in trips in 2005 and 2008.
