History

Stowarzyszenie Klub Wodny ENIF is among Poland’s oldest sailing clubs and was founded in 1953 by Andrzej Szwejkowski, who remains an active member and sailing and powerboat instructor. The club’s base is on the Poraj Reservoir in Jastrząb near Poraj and has more than 80 members. The almost 90-metre quay holds about 50 yachts; the fleet includes three Sigma 600 dinghies, an Omega, Venus and Mak 666 cabin yachts, motorboats, kayaks, pedal boats and rowing boats. The club flagship is the 24-foot Net 24 yacht named ENIF. Training is a core activity: about 120 new sailors and powerboat operators are taught each year in weekend courses and at agreed dates. Sporting success includes Jarosław Cieślak’s two Polish championship titles in the Omega class. Members include sailors, sea skippers, captains, instructors and sailing judges. The club organises annual sporting and leisure events as well as sea and Mazury voyages; the season traditionally starts on 1 May and recently ran into December. The club’s 70th anniversary highlights its long history on the Poraj Reservoir.
