Krefelder Segel-Klub e.V.

Krefelder Segel-Klub e.V. (KSK) is a sailing club founded in 1981 on Lake Elfrather in Krefeld, offering a challenging sailing area of around 62 hectares. The clubhouse, built through members' own efforts, with terrace, beach area, pontoon facilities and both land and water moorings forms the heart of club life. Club boats including Kielzugvogel, Schwertzugvogel, 470er, ILCA dinghies, 420er and a large Optimist fleet are available for members without their own boat. Children and juniors are trained for the youth sailing certificate; adults can obtain SBF inland, SBF sea and coastal yachtmaster licences. Regattas, holiday camps, Wednesday regattas and social sailing shape the sporting and community programme on the E-See.

History

Krefelder Segel-Klub e.V. was founded in 1981. In 1988 the club moved to its current location on Lake Elfrather. After one year of construction and considerable member volunteer work, the clubhouse was inaugurated and has since been the cosy meeting point and heart of the club. The view from the terrace is considered one of the finest on the entire lake. The adjacent meadow invites sunbathing, play and barbecues, and the beach area built by juniors is popular with all ages. In winter the club room with cast-iron stove offers warmth after a walk around the roughly 62-hectare lake. The pontoon facility provides berths on land and water. Competitive sailors take part in numerous regattas on the E-See, including the traditional Maibowle season opener, the Absegeln city championship and regular Wednesday regattas with neighbouring clubs. The club maintains active youth work with youth certificate training, Optimist training and holiday camps. In recent years KSK celebrated outstanding success, including several state championship titles in 2025 in Schwertzugvogel and Kielzugvogel and fifth place at the Optikinder regatta at the BOOT trade fair.
