History
Königsbrunner Segelclub was founded in 1976 by Rudolf Stehle together with 14 other sailors. The club grounds "die Ranch" are located on Benzstraße in the south of Königsbrunn and on an area of around 2,500 m² offer members the opportunity to barbecue and socialize after regattas, summer festivals or over a friendly drink. Boats can also be stored here during the winter months. The club's sailing area is Lech impoundment 23 (Lake Mandicho) with approximately 1.6 km², which offers high recreational value for sailors, surfers, anglers and bathers. On the south-eastern shore there are a kiosk, toilet facilities and the water rescue building; on the eastern shore there is a large car park and a public slipway. In 2010 the club's outstation "Backskiste" was commissioned at Lake Mandicho. After the club had to vacate the old berth in autumn 2015, work on the new berth began in the same year and continued throughout 2016. On 13 May 2017 "Backskiste Alpenblick" was opened, inaugurated by mayor Franz Feigl. In 2016 the club celebrated its 40th anniversary. At the 2022 annual general meeting Erwin Gruber retired as secretary and founding member after more than 45 years; his successor is Noah Grab. Erwin Schneider, Günter Weidner and Diana Bucher were re-elected to their offices. Traditional events such as boat baptism, opening-of-season sailing with mini regatta, jetty festival for berth holders and summer festival on the Ranch shape club life to this day.
