Kristiansund Seilforening
Kristiansund Seilforening is the traditional sailing club of Kristiansund on Norway's Nordmøre coast and has been a central meeting point for sailors in the region since 1917. The club combines maritime traditions with modern sailing through courses, regattas and community life, and runs its own dinghy facility with a sailing school by the water on Innlandet as well as jetties for dinghy sailing. Regular training in Optimist dinghies is aimed especially at the youngest members; fixed race courses with marks in the harbour basin and adjoining fjords support technique training and club events. The social hub is the Oldenborg cabin by the water with harbour, bathing beach and guest access; visitors may use the facilities for a harbour fee. The programme includes regattas such as Frei rundt, club groups and offers around sailing tuition and coastal trips on Nordmøre.
History
Kristiansund Seilforening was founded in 1917 and has since been a gathering place for sailors on Nordmøre. The club brings together maritime traditions and modern sailing enjoyment through courses, regattas and community. Over time it established its own dinghy facility with a sailing school where beginners learn basic skills in a safe setting and the youngest members train manoeuvring and seamanship. The jetties and facilities lie by the water on Innlandet and give easy sea access for the dinghies. For fair and efficient racing the club uses a system of fixed marks and buoys in the harbour basin and adjoining fjords, predefined standard courses by wind direction, and simplified training courses. Known courses and routes include Bane 8, Regattabane 14 and 19, God Taren and Frei rundt. Oldenborg became the social heart of the club: a waterside cabin as a base for sailing, recreation and maritime togetherness, with harbour, water and power, sheltered beach, showers, gapahuk and grill. Visitors are welcome; the harbour fee is 100 NOK per day or 250 NOK including electricity per day and night. Today the club continues to organise regattas, sailing school, trips and club life along the Nordmøre coast.
