History
Kristinehamns Kappseglare (KKS) is the dinghy sailing club in Kristinehamn and focuses on youth sailing and sailing school. Club activity is based on the sheltered Vålösundet, close to open Lake Vänern and the regional archipelago. The sailing school is the entry point into the sport and attracts children and young people from Kristinehamn and other municipalities; in summer there are courses for beginners and intermediates as well as regular sailing on evenings and weekends. In 2024 the OK fleet at KKS was re-established: around 20 sailors with varied experience completed basic training in spring and sailed several evenings and weekends in summer, accompanied by their own races. The club also hosts OK regattas, including the OK Picasso Cup as part of the Swedish OK Cup and the Nordic Championships in the OK Dinghy in 2026. For sailors after sailing school, Lilla VM offers an easy entry-level race in Optimist dinghies at the clubhouse.
