Kastrup Sejlklub

History

Kastrup Sejlklub is an established sailing club at the municipal Kastrup Marina in Tårnby Municipality. The club is a member of Dansk Sejlunion, Danmarks Idrætsforbund and SAMKAS, the association of motorboat and sailing clubs in Kastrup. The Hobie Cat section was founded in 2000 to promote interest in this fast, technically demanding boat class and to attract sailors who did not come from dinghy or keelboat sailing. Over the years the section grew with new sailors and transitions from the youth section; maintenance of the Hobie boats is done jointly, with sailing based at the dinghy house south of the harbour towards Den Blå Planet. The club has a tradition of races and events of all kinds, including the annual Polyester Cup for Finn Dinghy and Hobie Cat 16 and, together with Sundby Sejlforening, the traditional Thursday and Tuesday matches on fixed marks in the Øresund. The youth section emphasises community, racing and camps; beginners typically start in Optimist dinghies and can later move to two-person dinghies and Hobie Cat or keelboats. The sailing school prepares for the duelighedsbevis and is the entry point, followed by the shared-boat section with the club boats Kløveren (Albin Express) and Katufo (Tur 84). The clubhouse at Kastrup Strandpark 23 is the meeting place for board meetings, senior gatherings on even Thursdays and social activities organised by the activity committee in the winter and off-season.
