Kallhälls Båtklubb
Kallhälls Båtklubb (KaBK) is the official boat and sailing club in Kallhäll in Järfälla Municipality near Stockholm and a member of the Swedish Båtunionen. The club operates its own moorings – including the A and C jetties – as well as a breakwater, and uses the Båtunionen's internet-based membership register BAS for address data, work and watch duties. Club life includes seasonal watch rotas, work duty, joint boat trips and the traditional launching season with member gatherings. Since the early 2000s the club has documented its development in KaBK Nytt and a club history; major infrastructure projects such as the A jetty in 2013–2014, the C jetty in 2017–2018 and the breakwater in 2019 shape its more recent history.
History
Kallhälls Båtklubb (KaBK) maintains a documented club history available via the KaBK Nytt archive and a history from 2003. As early as 2000, the shared launching with lunch and songs under Lasse Lundsten was a fixed community ritual marking the start of the summer season. From 2004 KaBK Nytt appeared over several years, recording club life, trips and tips; Elis Pettersson long ran the web editorial work as web editor. In the 2010s major infrastructure projects followed: construction of the A jetty in 2013–2014 and the C jetty in 2017–2018 expanded the moorings, and in 2019 the breakwater was added. Member trips such as the Strömsholm Canal voyage in 2013 and Johan Fritiof's Norway voyage in 2014 complemented the programme. During the pandemic club life was markedly quieter; in 2021 Eric Casselberg temporarily took over KaBK Nytt while the archive with history and older issues remained. Today KaBK organises membership and duties centrally via BAS of Båtunionen and remains reachable via info@kabk.org and dedicated addresses for watch and work duty.
