Kolding Bådelaug
Kolding Bådelaug is a sailing club in Kolding Harbour at Marina Syd and a member of Dansk Sejlunion. The club was founded in 1979 to promote recreational sailing and mutual help in a manageable club setting. Today it has around 300 members and offers a clubhouse at Skamlingvejen 5 plus the seasonal pier Paradisbugten on Kolding Fjord. The programme includes a Dansk Sejlunion-certified sailing school for the theoretical and practical Duelighedsbevis, Wednesday racing, Tirsdag på vandet and social events such as Onsdagstræf. Distinctive features include the L23 school boats „Tillid“ and „Brønserud“, regional DS cruising buoys and volunteer upkeep of the facilities.
History
Kolding Bådelaug was founded in 1979 by sailors seeking a small club under Dansk Sejlunion focused on recreational sailing and mutual aid. Based at Kolding Lystbådehavn (Marina Syd), the club uses the clubhouse at Skamlingvejen 5. At Paradisbugten on the south side of the fjord mouth near Løverodde it leases land and runs a seasonal pier from late April to late September, laid and recovered by members. In October 2023 a storm surge destroyed the pier and pavilion; volunteers salvaged most sections. At the extraordinary AGM on 25 January 2024 Henning Schmidt was elected chairman after the previous board stepped down; Søren Hornbak remained treasurer. About DKK 90,000 was budgeted to rebuild the Paradisbugten pier after commercial quotes of around DKK 400,000. School boats are two L23 yachts („Tillid“ and „Brønserud“), Dansk Sejlunion standard/one-design classes. The club is Dansk Sejlunion-certified, runs a Duelighedsbevis sailing school and maintains DS cruising buoys with Danske Tursejlere. About 300 members today emphasise community, volunteering, racing and training.
