Koivusaaren Pursiseura
Koivusaaren Pursiseura (KoPu) is a sailing and boating club with a harbour at Koivusaari in Helsinki and club facilities on the island of Roslagen. The club operates buoy and pier berths, winter storage places, a sauna and a club cabin (Maja) for communal events. Members use member areas under @kopu.fi, receive the annual Veneilijän Muistio guide and the club magazine KoPuttaja, while the harbour runs boat inspections and the yearly allocation of dock places. The programme includes club gatherings such as Midsummer at Roslagen and participation in regattas such as the Helsinki-Tallinn Race. KoPu is currently modernising harbour infrastructure with new buoy chains, a multipurpose room and an office and sanitary container.
History
Koivusaaren Pursiseura (KoPu) runs the club and member harbour at Koivusaari in Helsinki and the Roslagen club site with sauna and cabin. The harbour buoy chains are more than ten years old; in spring 2026 they were inspected by diving under the ice according to the club action plan. Almost all chains were heavily worn at the lower end, so about 2.5 metres of new chain are being fitted in parallel to bypass damaged sections. The club allocates summer berths annually (2026: 120 applications) and winter docking places and requires boats to be secured to buoys with two separate lines. In 2026 a new office and sanitary container and a multipurpose room with a watch corner were set up; the orange container still stores flags and repair materials. Club communication runs via KoPuttaja, Veneilijän Muistio and member logins under @kopu.fi; the 2026 annual meeting was held at Restaurant Blue Peter. Sportingly, participation in the Helsinki-Tallinn Race is encouraged, and Roslagen hosts traditional events such as Midsummer with flag raising and sauna.
