Fahrtenseglergemeinschaft Pforzheim e.V.
Fahrtenseglergemeinschaft Pforzheim e.V. is a sailing club founded in 1989, based in Pforzheim and currently with about 160 members. The club owns grounds at the Goldkanal near Steinmauern and Rastatt, where young people learn sailing on Optimists and club dinghies. The focus of the cruising sailors is sea sailing; skippers and members sail among other waters on the Mediterranean, in the Caribbean, in the Indian Ocean, in the South Pacific, on the Baltic Sea and Lake Constance. Regular meet-ups, themed evenings and open trips in close cooperation with the Pforzheim sailing and motorboat school shape club life. For several years, promoting youth work has been at the centre of the club's activities.
History
Fahrtenseglergemeinschaft Pforzheim e.V. (FSG Pforzheim) was founded in 1989 from the courses of the Pforzheim sailing and motorboat school and has since operated as a non-profit association. The club seat is Pforzheim; the postal address according to the legal notice is in Ettlingen. According to the statutes, the purpose is to promote sailing, in particular cruising and dinghy sailing, and to introduce young people to sailing with club-owned boats. At the Goldkanal near Steinmauern and Rastatt the club maintains grounds in a landscape protection area at the south-eastern end of a gravel lake connected to the Rhine. Five club dinghies and two Optimists are available there for youth work and members. The focus of the cruising sailors is sea sailing; members report trips on the Mediterranean, in the Caribbean, on the Seychelles, in the South Pacific, on the Baltic Sea and Lake Constance. Regular meet-ups and themed evenings from October to March every second Wednesday at the Osterfeld Kulturhaus provide training in seamanship, navigation and sailing areas. For several years club life has increasingly focused on youth work at the Goldkanal. The club has supported the German Maritime Search and Rescue Association (DGzRS) for many years through regular donations. In 2023 a new website was launched; in 2025 Alex Möller was appointed honorary member. The current statutes were adopted by the general meeting on 17 September 2021. Today the club has about 160 members.
