Fredrikstad Seilforening
Fredrikstad Seilforening is the official sailing club of Fredrikstad, based at Andersenslippen in Vikane in Onsøy. The club has a clubhouse and a well-used pier facility for members and guests on Hankøsundet. Besides a large active dinghy group with Optimist and youth programmes, there are cruising and offshore sailors as well as model boat sailing. The programme includes regattas such as Homlungenseilasen, Bedriftsseilasen, TwoStar, Wednesday racing and the Østfold Cup, plus courses and summer school. Guest berths can be booked via Mooringo; club life combines tradition, youth development and regional regatta cooperation.
History
Fredrikstad Seilforening is based at Andersenslippen in Vikane in Onsøy and uses a clubhouse and pier for members and guests there. Homlungenseilasen, co-organised with the sailing clubs in Hvaler, continues a long regional tradition: as early as 1866 a race for work and pilot boats was held at Homlungen; in 1867 Paul Michaelsen Fjelde from Fjeldskilen in Onsøy won with a boat he had built himself. The modern Homlungenseilasen is part of the Union Race series with Fredrikstad, Hvaler, Sarpsborg and Strömstad and offers classes for racing, shorthanded, cruisers, cutters, skøyter and classic wooden boats. The club also runs Bedriftsseilasen near Hankø, Raymarine TwoStar at Hankø Yacht Club and Andersenslippen, and OneStar formats, and has co-hosted national championships such as NM Finn Dinghy and NM for 29er. For youth, six RS Feva XL dinghies were acquired, Optimist sailing, Monday beginner courses and summer schools in weeks 26 and 27 are offered. Courses are developed with Styrefart run by member Per Arne Skjeggestad, including boat licence courses, ICC and VHF. The 2026 calendar also lists the event “70 års lag”, pointing to a seventieth club anniversary. Today active dinghy, cruising/offshore and model boat groups and guest berths via Mooringo shape club life.
