Fjellebroen Sejlklub
Fjellebroen Sejlklub is a small, welcoming sailing club based at Fjellebroen Havn in Fåborg-Midtfyn municipality on the Danish island of Funen. Founded in 1965, the club has around 150 members from across Funen and Jutland. At the calm fishing and leisure harbour with space for about 200 boats, members enjoy a clubhouse, sailors’ lounge, baths and toilets, plus a mast crane and slipway. The programme includes handicap racing under Dansk Sejlunion Simple Racing Rules, club cruises such as the trip to Lyø, lectures and summer parties. A junior section for under-18s and the nearby Øhavsstien coastal path complete club life.
History
Fjellebroen Sejlklub was founded in 1965 and has since been based at Fjellebroen Havn in Fåborg-Midtfyn municipality on Funen. According to its statutes, the club’s purpose is to promote sailing and motorboating and to represent boat owners’ interests at the harbour. The club is affiliated to Dansk Sejlunion; members who sail must carry liability insurance for their craft. It flies its own burgee – a white triangle with blue edges and a white anchor in a blue square – and holds an annual burgee-lowering ceremony after boat haul-out. Over the decades an active community of about 150 members from Funen and Jutland has grown, with handicap racing under Simple Racing Rules, club trips in the South Funen Archipelago and a junior section for girls and boys under 18. The annual general meeting is held in Fjellebroen by the end of February; dues are set by the meeting and collected yearly in advance from 1 March. More than 70 boats come ashore at haul-out, underlining the size of the active fleet. Today the club combines harbour life, social events and competitive sailing in peaceful surroundings along the Øhavsstien.
