Fanø Sejlklub
Fanø Sejlklub is the sailing club of the island of Fanø and runs Fanø Lystbådehavn on a volunteer basis without a permanent harbour master. The club has a clubhouse available for hire, pontoon facilities and an active junior section sailing Optimist dinghies. Guests usually find free berths without booking; payment and harbour information are posted on boards at the harbour and in the clubhouse. Juniors train seasonally on Wednesdays in the clubhouse, alongside club championships, the Danibo Cup and club events such as flag hoisting and Sankt Hans. With a lease from Fanø Municipality, grants for pontoons, dinghies and solar technology, and volunteer harbour care, the club is the island's maritime hub.
History
Fanø Sejlklub is the sailing club of the island of Fanø and is responsible for operating Fanø Lystbådehavn. Photo archives on the club website document the period before today's club as well as milestones from 2007 with a dredging celebration, atmosphere shots in 2008, aerial photos in 2010 and regular work and flag days from 2011. In 2012 the club championship and flag lowering took place; 2016 and 2017 brought Sankthansaften, flag hoisting with a work day, the inauguration of the renovated north pontoon and the Vild Med Vand / Harbour Day event. A lease between Fanø Municipality and Fanø Sejlklub covers 2018 to 2027. In 2024 and 2025 the club received substantial grants: among others from Spar Nord Fonden and Sydfyenske Dampskibsselskabs Fond for new dinghies and Optimist dinghies, 100,000 kroner from Fanø Sparekasses Fond for a new access bridge, from Superbrugsen Nordby for a playground tower at the harbour, and funding for solar panels, batteries and a new clubhouse lock system. Photos from 2026 show new pontoon bridges; the junior section runs club championships and the Danibo Cup. The harbour continues to be run entirely by volunteers.
