Falkenbergs Båtsällskap
Falkenbergs Båtsällskap is a non-profit boat club on the Halland coast in Falkenberg and a central hub for boat enthusiasts in the region. The association promotes active boating, gives members access to piers, floating docks and a mast crane, and is closely linked to the guest harbour Gäshamnen. Many members own sailing boats and use the mast crane to step and unstep masts at the start of the season. Club life includes work days and members’ meetings; future plans focus on expanding and modernising the piers and investing in the mast crane and Gäshamnen. Sustainability and weather-resistant infrastructure along the coast shape the planned further development.
History
Falkenbergs Båtsällskap has long been a central meeting point for boat enthusiasts in the Falkenberg region. The non-profit association was founded to promote boating, give members access to good facilities and build a community around a passion for life on the water. The club is linked to Falkenberg’s historic and lively harbour; the guest harbour Gäshamnen has for decades been one of the city’s most popular places for leisure boats. Along the Halland coast the club operates piers and floating docks; the current mast crane has been in service for many years and is used mainly by sailing-boat owners to raise and lower masts. More recently, repairs to floating docks in the dock were carried out, piling works and a new R-pier were planned, and work days and spring meetings were held. Looking ahead, the club plans to expand and modernise its piers to meet growing demand for berths, replace or upgrade the mast crane, and further develop Gäshamnen with environmentally friendly infrastructure while preserving the harbour’s historic character.
