Eyhauser Segelclub e.V. - 26160 Bad Zwischenahn

The Eyhauser Segelclub e.V. (ESC) was founded in late 2003 by sailing enthusiasts in Eyhausen on Lake Zwischenahn. The club's purpose is to practise and promote sailing on the third-largest inland lake in Lower Saxony, covering 550 hectares. With well-equipped club boats such as the Conger dinghy ESCondor, the club offers newcomers an easy introduction to sailing after a briefing. The programme includes club regattas, Yardstick races such as the Capt. Lünemann Cup and the Midsummer Regatta, as well as a monthly sailors' get-together in Eyhausen. With almost 200 members, the ESC is an active community for relaxed leisure sailing and ambitious regatta sailing in the Ammerland region.

History

In late 2003, a group of sailing enthusiasts decided to found the ESC Eyhauser Segelclub e.V. The club's aim is to practise and promote sailing on Lake Zwischenahn in Eyhausen near Bad Zwischenahn. Founding member Horst Lünemann played a key role in the club's creation: born in Barkhausen in 1938, he was skipper of the White Fleet on Lake Zwischenahn from 2002 and actively involved in re-establishing a sailing club in Eyhausen from the 2003 season. He died on 7 August 2003, shortly before the final founding on 30 September 2003; the Capt. Lünemann Regatta is named after him. Since its founding, the club has offered members access to sailing through club boats such as the Conger dinghy ESCondor and the trout ESCorelle after instruction. In addition to club regattas, Yardstick races are also held. The club has grown into an active community of almost 200 members. In 2025, age and wear made a new set of sails necessary; thanks to a grant of 4,000 euros from Landessparkasse zu Oldenburg, a regional sailmaker was commissioned to produce new sails, which were hoisted for the first time in the 2026 season.
