Edertaler Segel-Verein e.V.
Edertaler Segel-Verein e.V. (ESV'86) is a sailing club on Lake Edersee with grounds and a clubhouse at Rehbach in Edertal. The club has jetty facilities and a clubhouse and cooperates with Segelschule Rehbach and the DLRG for events. It organises regattas such as the Ederseepokal and the West German H-Boat Championship, youth development and inclusive sailing weekends for children and young people. Founded in 1986, the club looks back on a history of Tornado and dinghy sailing at Rehbach and continues an active club life on Lake Edersee.
History
Edertaler Segel-Verein has existed since 1986; its founding followed a longer prehistory at Rehbach. In the 1970s an unused DLRG tower-like shed on today's club grounds served as shelter for sailors. Two locals from Rehbach brought a Shark catamaran from England to Lake Edersee; besides Pirate, Finn and home-built dinghies a small catamaran fleet soon formed. With scarce berths, a floating platform at the White Stone was built as a dinghy jetty after approval from the waterways authority in Hann. Münden, secured by Kalli Draude. Sailors later took up the Tornado class; founding members joined SCE at Scheid and set up a Tornado section at Rehbach for DSV affiliation and racing. The first clubhouse was built from a surplus construction workers' hut after Karl (Kalli) Draude obtained permits; the 1985 flood damaged it severely. Talks with the municipality of Edertal and the founding of ESV'86 secured the grounds; donations and volunteer work produced a new clubhouse.
