Die Seeteufel
Die Seeteufel are a young sailing club based at Neugasse 6 in the centre of Gleisdorf in Styria, Austria. Officially on course since 2024, they make sailing accessible to everyone and connect passion and joy on the water in an active community. Their standout feature is a state-of-the-art sailing simulator in the club premises: ship motions, wind, rudder and thrust feel realistic, and manoeuvres are recorded and analysed – ideal for beginners and experienced skippers all year round. The programme includes simulator training, workshops and further education, charter support, and shared sailing trips to Croatia, Greece, Spain and other cruising grounds. Club evenings, community events and a member bonus programme with partner discounts complete club life.
History
Since May 2024, something unique in Austria has taken shape at Neugasse 6 in the heart of Gleisdorf: a sailing club with its own sailing simulator – Die Seeteufel. They have been officially on course as a sailing association since 2024. Their motivation and purpose are to make sailing accessible to all, strengthen equal opportunities and promote physical activity at every age. Knowledge and skills in sailing are taught through hands-on training, informative talks and varied seminars. As Austria’s first sailing club of its kind, Die Seeteufel enable first sailing experiences on a realistic simulator, practising manoeuvres or staying sharp through the winter months. The club premises are a meeting place for sailing enthusiasts and a place to experience freedom, wind and water all year – even when there is no sailing wind outside. With around 50 members and 15 trained skippers (FB2 and coastal licence), the club is growing rapidly. The crew comes from the districts of Weiz, Südoststeiermark, Graz-Umgebung and Hartberg-Fürstenfeld. Chairman Thomas Reinhardt-Kleinschuster and his deputy Christian Fuchs shape club life with the claim that sailing need not remain a dream and is affordable for everyone. Members benefit from agency agreements with Pitter and BavAdria, courses for the Croatian coastal licence, and discounts with regional partners.
