Segelclub Steckborn
Segelclub Steckborn (SCS) is a sailing club on Lake Constance with its home port at Bootshafen Feldbach in Steckborn. The club mainly brings together cruising sailors and also fosters friendly racing, notably the traditional Salamiregatta on the last Saturday of the summer school holidays. The harbour offers berths, guest berths, a boat crane, a mast crane, a slipway, a boat wash area, sanitary facilities and a barbecue area; members also share a clubroom with Yacht Club Schaffhausen. The association supports young sailors, upholds seamanship and fair play, and holds an annual shoreline clean-up along the Steckborn shores of Lake Constance. Since its founding in 1968 and the harbour construction in 1980, SCS has been a firm meeting point for the sailing community in the Steckborn area.
History
Segel Club Steckborn (SCS) was founded in 1968. With the construction of Feldbach harbour in Steckborn in 1980, that harbour became the home port of SCS. The club unites sailors who are mainly dedicated to cruising and also cultivates friendly racing. The traditional Salamiregatta on the last Saturday of the summer school holidays is the most important sporting event of the sailing season. The club aims to foster contacts and friendship among sailors, encourage young sailors and represent their interests externally, especially towards politics and business. Key concerns include seamanship, mutual respect for other water sports enthusiasts, sporting fairness and an environmentally sound approach to Lake Constance. Every winter the club holds a shoreline clean-up that clears litter from the lake shores within the Steckborn municipality. SCS maintains friendly ties with Yacht Club Schaffhausen and Jugendsegeln Steckborn, both based in the same harbour, and across the border with the yacht clubs in Gaienhofen. The harbour provides 273 berths and about 20 guest berths as well as infrastructure including a boat crane, mast crane, slipway and clubroom. Hafen Steckborn is certified with the Blauer Anker label.
