Greifswalder Yacht-Club e.V.
Greifswalder Yacht-Club e.V. is a traditional sailing club at the mouth of the Ryck into the Danish Wieck on the Greifswald Bodden. The club grounds at Yachtweg 4 in Greifswald-Wieck offer berths, clubhouses in Wieck and at Eisenhammer, and a dedicated crane facility. Together with the Academic Sailing Club and Yachtclub Wieck, the club runs a youth section with training in Optimist, 420 and ILCA. The programme includes season opening sails, regattas, squadron cruises and a cruising competition. In 2026 the club celebrated its 100th founding anniversary and has more than 200 members with around 80 boats flying the club name.
History
The history of Greifswalder Yacht-Club dates back to the 1920s. On 24 March 1926 Paul Dannenberg, Ernst Libner, Heinz F. Radicke and Johannes Karsten formed a local group at the suggestion of the Stralsund sailing club; on 28 April 1926 this became the independent Greifswalder Jachtklub (GJK) with 20 members. The first board comprised Libner (chair), Dannenberg (secretary), K. Arnold (treasurer) and H. F. Radicke (sailing officer). Despite the Great Depression the club grew; in 1929 three 12-foot dinghies were built and the coastal dinghy VINETA U 26 was acquired as the first club boat. By 1945 the club had about 60 members and 10 juniors with 20 sailing yachts. After the war sports clubs were dissolved; in 1949 the HSG sailing section was founded, and on 18 January 1950 a new sailing group under Rudolf Mastmeier. After the fall of the Wall in 1989 Greifswalder Yachtclub was re-established as a registered association, the historic burgee restored and DSV membership confirmed. In 2013 the three Greifswald sailing clubs built a shared crane on the south bank of the Ryck. In 2026 the club celebrated its centenary.

Clubhouse Wieck on the south bank of the Ryck (Yachtweg 4) with berths for boats up to about 12 m length and max. 2.30 m draft, further grounds at Eisenhammer near Greifswald town harbour, Wieck crane facility (since 2013, capacity 10,000 kg), slipway and mast crane at Eisenhammer, sanitary facilities with code access via the harbour master.

Youth sailing in the Joint Youth Section (GJA), season opening, regattas on the Greifswald Bodden, squadron cruises and midsummer sail, cruising competition with evaluation and traditional ice-eating event, members' meetings and club festivities in the Wieck and Eisenhammer clubhouses.
