Brøndby Strands Sejlklub
Brøndby Strands Sejlklub (BSS) is a large active sailing club at Brøndby Havn near Copenhagen that brings together people interested in sailing, motorboating or a mix of both in a welcoming community. The club offers social events, cruises, lectures and other member activities, plus sailing school instruction with competency certificates and practical sailing for adults. A very active youth department serves children and young people aged 6 to 25 with dinghy and keelboat groups, water confidence for the youngest and sailing for children with special needs. Match racing, adventure sailing, cruise sailing and SUP complement the programme; shared club boats such as the J/80 serve as event, racing and transition boats. The club regularly competes in district championships and international regattas and maintains traditions such as flag lowering and summer camp.
History
Brøndby Strands Sejlklub (BSS) is an active sailing club at Brøndby Havn near Copenhagen. The club has documented its development for decades in the club magazine Lanternen, with PDF archives online back to 1974; detailed historical articles appear in Lanternen 2002 no. 2, pages 30–44. Club work is organised through committees including youth, sailing school, cruise sailing, match racing and BSS Female. Christian Paaske Jørgensen joined the board in 2021 and serves as treasurer; Albert Skov-Hansen has been active in the youth section since 2021 and contributes as a coach. Morten Kristoffer Hansen has been involved since 2018, leads the youth department and sits on the board. A new board was confirmed after the 2025 general meeting. The club invests in shared boats including two J/80 yachts used for events, racing, transition sailing and the sailing school. The youth section achieves results at district championships, Harboe Cup, Snekkersten Autumn Cup and international RS Tera world championships; the club received a 10,000 DKK grant from Spar Nord Fonden for land-based training equipment such as a dinghy rigging frame.

Sailing school with theoretical and practical competency certificates, match racing and racing teams, cruise sailing, adventure sailing, active youth department with regatta participation, SUP group, Stegelejr summer camp with other Køge Bay clubs, BSS rope-throwing championship, flag lowering, lectures and social events, BSS Female and continuation courses for experienced sailors.
Youth section
Very active BSS Ungdom youth section for children and young people aged 5 to 25 with dinghy and keelboat groups, water confidence, sailing for children with special needs, free trial sessions and participation in district and international regattas.
