Bromma Jollekappseglingssällskap
Bromma Jollekappseglingssällskap, known as Bromma Jolle, is a non-profit sports club in western Stockholm founded in spring 2022. Club activities take place on the boatyard grounds of Ängby Båtklubb in the Grimsta nature reserve near Kanaanbadet. The programme includes Optimist training in Green, Blue and Red groups, advanced groups in the Europe dinghy, plus sailing schools and sailing camps in Stockholm. The main target group is children and youth from beginners to ambitious racing sailors; training runs on several weekdays and is complemented by summer sailing schools. Leadership and sailing-school instructors bring decades of experience from building up the former KBS Jolle programme and run the club as an independent democratic sports association.
History
Bromma Jollekappseglingssällskap, known as Bromma Jolle, was founded in spring 2022 as an independent sports association in western Stockholm. The club was given the opportunity to base its activities on the well-maintained boatyard of Ängby Båtklubb in the Grimsta nature reserve near Kanaanbadet. Bromma Jolle grew out of a long-standing vision of running a club where everyone feels welcome, makes new friends, receives quality training and can be active on the racing scene. Those leading the club and the sailing-school instructors bring many years of experience from building and leading the former KBS Jolle programme, which became one of the best in Sweden. Decades of sailing-training experience were therefore available from the start – this time as a freestanding democratic sports association rather than a section of a yacht club. Bromma Jolle runs sailing courses and summer camps for children and youth and maintains fixed training groups in several boat types in autumn and spring. The aim is strong sailing activity from beginners to world-championship sailors and to develop young sailors into good leaders. Coaches and instructors have several years of sailing-school experience; most compete at national and international level. The club has also been supported by Saltsjön Mälarens Båtförbund (SMBF) to develop coaches and instructors.
