Brevik Seilforening
Brevik Seilforening is a Norwegian sailing club from Porsgrunn in Telemark and a member of the Norwegian Olympic and Paralympic Committee and Confederation of Sports. The Seivall facility sits idyllically on the Eidangerfjorden and features a clubhouse, pontoons and a dinghy slipway modernised through volunteer work and completed for the club's centenary in 2018. The club welcomes beginners, juniors, cruising sailors and racing sailors and runs Wednesday regattas as well as cup series. With around 320 members, Optimist beginner courses, a youth league and sailing camps, the club supports young sailors across the Grenland region. Guest berths, club parking and waterside venue hire complete the offer at Seivall.
History
Brevik Seilforening was founded on 15 September 1918 and is a sailing club from Porsgrunn and a member of Norges Idrettsforbund. The association aims to serve as a sailing club for all of Telemark. Over the years the club has produced many sailors who have competed successfully at national and international level. Through recent volunteer efforts the facility was extensively upgraded: a new clubhouse, pontoon and boat house (naust) were completed for the 100th anniversary in 2018 and now form a modern, visitor-friendly sports venue on the Eidangerfjorden. Volunteer work remains the backbone of club life – from race tower and start boat to summer sailing school, dinghy coaching, courses and maintenance. Today the club has around 320 members and offers a wide programme from Optimist and ILCA to boardsailing as well as racing and cruising at Seivall.
