Bavaria Zeilclub

The Bavaria Zeilclub (BZc) is the official association for owners of Bavaria sailing yachts in the Netherlands, with over 750 members, making it one of the largest brand clubs in Europe. Founded in 1990 by passionate Bavaria sailors, the club has maintained its relaxed atmosphere for around three decades and is open to every Bavaria sailor in the Netherlands and beyond. Members benefit from a network of like-minded owners, workshops and events on and around Dutch waters, and the club magazine Langszij, published at least twice a year. The programme includes club regattas, offshore sailing, maintenance workshops, lectures and recreational cruises; the online Clubhaven offers a forum, library and event registration. Events commissions in the North and South organise Ascension and Whitsun weekends at various Dutch sailing areas.

History

The Bavaria Zeilclub was founded in 1990 by a group of enthusiastic Bavaria sailors and has since united owners of Bavaria sailing yachts in the Netherlands. Within a few years the club grew into one of the largest brand clubs in Europe, now with over 750 members. The club magazine Langszij has been published since the founding, recording experiences, travel stories and events; from 2014 it was produced as a full-colour glossy magazine, and from 2025 only digital editions are available. The club structure includes a voluntary board and events commissions for North and South that organise workshops, weekend events and social gatherings. A celebration for the 30th anniversary was planned for April 2020 in Rotterdam but had to be cancelled due to the Covid-19 pandemic. In 2025 the club celebrated its 35th anniversary. The annual general meeting sets membership fees, among other matters; the board meets regularly, preferably digitally, to save costs. Through the website, the member-valued forum and the Clubhaven, Bavaria owners exchange knowledge on boats, maintenance, electronics and cruises. Events such as the Ascension weekend, Whitsun weekend with regatta on the Ketelmeer, BBQ weekends and navigation workshops shape club life on Dutch inland waters and coastal areas.
