Avesta Båtklubb

Avesta Båtklubb is a non-profit boat club on the banks of the Dalälven in historic Brunnbäck south of Avesta in Dalarna, Sweden. The club offers 60 permanent berths at three floating pontoons, an asphalt boat ramp, a club cabin and its own club island in the southern part of Lake Bäsingen with moorings and barbecue areas. Navigable waters include the Dalälven from Krylbo to the Näs power station as well as the lakes Jädersjön, Kungsgårdssjön and Bäsingen. All work and club functions are carried out by the members themselves; regular work days cover pontoons, booms and facility maintenance. Members without a berth may use the club cabin by arrangement with the board and gain access to the boat ramp.

History

Avesta Båtklubb is organised as a non-profit association and is situated on the Dalälven in Brunnbäck south of Avesta. The club operates a harbour with 60 permanent berths on three floating pontoons, an asphalt launch site and a club cabin. The water system comprises the Dalälven from Krylbo to the Näs power station and the lakes Jädersjön, Kungsgårdssjön and Bäsingen covering about 13 square kilometres. The club also has its own island in the southern part of Bäsingen with jetties and barbecue areas. Facility care is done collectively: annual work days cover putting out and taking in booms, grass cutting and maintenance; berth holders have a work duty on three occasions per year. The annual general meeting is held by 30 April at the latest. As part of the Swedish boating community, members receive the magazine Båtliv and can take out boat insurance with Svenska Sjö. Berths are 2.5 metres wide and suitable for boats of about 10 metres in length and roughly 5 tonnes displacement; vacant berths are allocated according to a waiting list.
