History

Asker Seilforening is based at Blakstadtangen near Asker and, with nearly 900 members, is one of Norway's largest sailing clubs. The club maintains a lively site with clubhouse, harbour facilities, winter and summer dry storage, mast crane and a ramp for dinghies and RIBs. Through the boatpool, club boats such as Optimist, J/70 and Sonar are available for training and own use. The keelboat group organises Wednesday regattas off Tangen, joint Superonsdag sailing with Bærum Seilforening and the local regattas Asker Rundt and Oslofjorden Rundt. In the J/70 section the club offers league training and boatpool for youth and adults as well as participation in the national Seilsportsliga and Ungdomsliga. Women's sailing trains twice weekly from May to September with course racing and keelboat training. For 2026 Asker Seilforening hosts the NM Nor Rating; the class association praises the substantial keelboat activity and the well-run harbour. The club is largely run by volunteers and financed through membership fees and public grants. Collaborations such as Vindskift enable sailing experiences for young people who would otherwise have no access to the sport. The winter programme includes theme evenings, theory courses and senior meetings; members receive free parking, favourable berths via Bryggelaget and access to Seilmagasinet.
