Ascheberger Seglergemeinschaft e. V.
Ascheberger Seglergemeinschaft e. V. is a sailing club on Lake Plön in Ascheberg on the Holstein Lake District. The club has three boat pontoons with a total of 60 water berths and about 10 land berths, a slipway with a column crane and a dinghy slipway in an idyllic sailing area with two lake sections and many islands. Typical local dinghies and cruiser classes are sailed, as well as keelboats such as the Varianta; the active youth section uses Optimists, 420s, Pirats, Europes and Laser Radial. From April to September the youth group trains every other Saturday; Friday sailing starts at 18:30 as a joint fun regatta. The club organises the ASG Cup, Ascheberg Round, harbour festival and children's and youth sailing days, and offers temporary memberships for those seeking a berth.
History
Ascheberger Seglergemeinschaft has long been rooted on Lake Plön and has shaped sailing life in Ascheberg across generations. Heinz Küttner shaped the ASG for over 50 years as youth officer and served more than 30 years as first chairman. The club website documents its development in chapters on the founding year, the 1970s and 1980s. In June 2022 the ASG christened the new motorboat "light blue", used as a support boat for youth training and regattas and as part of rescue operations on Lake Plön; the purchase was supported among others by the Förde Sparkasse foundation. Sailing clubs on Lake Plön work together on water-sports safety, and the ASG is actively involved in the municipality of Ascheberg. Regular harbour festivals, lantern processions, the ASG Cup and the Ascheberg Round race characterise annual club life to this day.
