Ascheberger Cat-Club e.V.
Ascheberger Cat-Club e.V. is the sailing club for enthusiastic catamaran sailors on the western shore of the Großer Plöner See in Ascheberg. The fenced club grounds sit next to Campingplatz Lange Wisch and offer a club room, sheltered berths beside woodland, a beach area and a wide slipway. Beginners and advanced sailors, leisure and racing sailors meet here whenever the weather allows for shared outings and club regattas. The programme includes trips on the Plöner See and the Baltic Sea, the Fehmarn Round Regatta and an annual one-week sailing trip to Denmark. The club was founded in 1993 because surrounding clubs lacked berths for space-intensive catamarans.
History
Ascheberger Cat-Club e.V. was founded in 1993 by enthusiastic catamaran sailors because neighbouring clubs lacked enough berths for this space-intensive sport. After a suitable site was found and prepared together, the fenced club grounds were established on the western shore of the Großer Plöner See in Ascheberg. With its own club room, sheltered places beside woodland, a beach area and a wide slipway, the club created ideal conditions for rigging, launching and recovering boats. Overnight stays for longer sailing holidays are available at the adjacent Campingplatz Lange Wisch and the nearby Natur Campingplatz Seekamp. Club life centres on shared sailing, club regattas with kangaroo starts, trips on the Plöner See and Baltic Sea, organising a Fehmarn Round Regatta and the annual one-week sailing trip to Denmark. Today the ACC is a welcoming community for beginners and advanced sailors, leisure and racing sailors, and still offers places for membership or guest berths.
