Amtoft Lystbådelaug
Amtoft Lystbådelaug is a sailing club on the Limfjord coast in the Danish village of Amtoft in Thisted Municipality. The club runs the marina with a clubhouse, slipway, mast shed, grill hut, sauna, and toilets and showers for members and visiting sailors. The programme includes racing, shared cruising trips, junior sailing as well as kayaking and surfing on the fjord. Visiting sailors are welcome and may use the clubhouse and sanitary facilities; harbour fees are paid online via Tallyweb. Since the major harbour modernisation from 2020 with support from Thisted Municipality and the senior club founded in 2024, community involvement shapes club life.
History
Amtoft Harbour was built in 1899 and further improved in the 1950s and in 1980. In 2020 Thisted Municipality granted funds for a comprehensive redesign of the outer harbour works: the entrance was moved away from silted areas, new outer breakwaters with heads were built, and space for more boats was created. Mole construction initially took about eight weeks; bridges, piles and further works followed over several years, including dredging at the slipway area and new floating pontoons at the western mole. During the 2020 corona crisis the club continued harbour works with the harbour committee, postponed the general meeting and organised boat preparation and launching under distancing rules; the clubhouse was temporarily closed. Modernisation continues into the 2020s: new guest berths were well received, TrygFonden rescue ladders and rings were installed, and in 2024 a senior club with Monday work sessions was founded. According to the 2024 Christmas greeting, the middle pier and a culture house among other items are still pending; the club keeps working to complete the project and keep Amtoft Harbour an attractive Limfjord destination.
