Club de Voile et de Loisirs d'Hermanville (C.V.L.H.)
Club de Voile et de Loisirs d'Hermanville (C.V.L.H.) is a French sailing and leisure club on the Normandy coast in Hermanville-sur-Mer in the Calvados département. Since May 1996 the club has been based at 37 Boulevard de la 3ème DIB and in 2026 celebrates thirty years at this location. The programme runs year-round and includes land sailing (char à voile), catamaran, windsurfing, paddle, sea kayak, marine discovery and kite flying for beginners, improvers and competitors. Regular Wednesday sessions outside school holidays plus weekend and holiday courses serve children, teenagers and adults; the club also hosts Normandy league races and national Grand Prix stages for land-sailing classes.
History
Before settling permanently, C.V.L.H. moved between a digue premises, the Lion sailing club and the Courbet rescue station. In May 1996 the club moved into its present premises at 37 Boulevard de la 3ème DIB in Hermanville-sur-Mer, described as a moment of sharing and hope. Thirty years of meetings, discoveries, exchange and passing on shared passions around sailing and land sailing have followed. The club regularly organises Normandy league races and stages of the French Championship for classes 7 and 8 (char à voile), such as the Grand Prix C7/C8 in May 2024 and league races in 2026. Alongside competition it offers a year-round leisure and course programme – Wednesday sessions, spring courses, parent-child events and group offers for schools and associations. For the thirtieth anniversary at the site, a celebration is planned on 4 July 2026 in the municipal hall “La Ferme” in the town-hall park of Hermanville-sur-Mer.
