CVL : Club de Voile de Lausanne
Club de Voile de Lausanne (CVL), formerly Cercle de la Voile de Lausanne, is an open sailing club on Lake Geneva in Ouchy, Lausanne, welcoming cruising sailors, racers, boat owners and non-sailors alike. The clubhouse is on the first floor at Chemin des Pêcheurs 7; members use the workshop, sail storage and a terrace overlooking Ouchy harbour. The youth training section, in partnership with CUST École de Régate, teaches sailing to young people aged 10 to 20 on ballasted Surprise boats, while the performance section fields two J/70 crews in the Swiss Sailing League at national and international level. From friendly training to official Swiss championships, the club offers a wide regatta programme on Lake Geneva off Vidy and Ouchy, including Semaine du Soir, the Dézaley and numerous club races.
History
Club de Voile de Lausanne, formerly known as Cercle de la Voile de Lausanne, celebrated its 107th anniversary in 2026 and ranks among the long-established sailing clubs on Lake Geneva. The club is open to everyone – from cruising and racing sailors and boat owners to non-sailors who wish to take part in club life at Ouchy harbour. The clubhouse at Chemin des Pêcheurs 7 is shared and, together with the workshop, sail room and terrace, forms the heart of the club. In youth training, CVL works with CUST École de Régate to teach young people aged 10 to 20 on ballasted Surprise boats under certified Jeunesse et Sport instructors, in line with Swiss Olympics and Swiss Sailing principles. The performance section has long been the driving force of the club: two J/70 crews compete in the Swiss Sailing League, including a mixed team in the Challenge League aiming for promotion to the Super League and a women's team founded in 2018 that ranks among the strongest formations in Switzerland's Women's Super League. The women's crew has regularly achieved top results in the Super League, including 4th in the 2025 overall ranking and international silver medals at the Trophée Virginie Heriot in Monaco in 2025 and the WLS Trophy in Monaco in 2024. On Lake Geneva off Vidy and Ouchy, the club organises a diverse regatta programme – from in-house club races and the legendary Dézaley to Semaine du Soir, Swiss championships and class events, managed via the Manage2Sail platform.
