Club Náutico Taliarte
Club Náutico Taliarte is a non-profit sailing club at Muelle de Taliarte harbour in Telde on Gran Canaria. Founded in summer 1979 as Club de Vela Taliarte, the private association promotes sailing and other water sports for members as well as for schools and the public in the municipality of Telde. At Explanada del Muelle de Taliarte the club runs a sailing school for children, teenagers and adults, complemented by kayak and windsurfing. The programme includes weekend and afternoon training, summer and holiday courses, and participation in junior regattas such as Regata Promesas. The boat classes Optimist, ILCA 7 and Europe shape the school's sailing offer on the Atlantic.
History
Club de Vela Taliarte, today Club Náutico Taliarte, was founded in summer 1979 in Taliarte, Telde. It is a private association with legal personality whose exclusive purpose is to promote nautical and sporting activity without profit, not only among members but also for individuals, social groups and schools mainly in the municipality of Telde. In October 2012 the club's sailing and kayak school opened; in April 2013 it celebrated its first six months. Since then the club has regularly offered weekend and afternoon courses, summer courses with sailing, kayak and windsurfing, and holiday programmes. In 2013 eleven sailing-school pupils took part in Regata Promesas. Adults find introductory courses on school boats; the summer school has continued for several years with support from the city of Telde.
