Club Náutico Córdoba
Club Náutico Córdoba is one of Argentina's most important sailing clubs and is located on the San Roque Reservoir in Villa Carlos Paz, Córdoba Province. The club has its own harbour with lake access, a dry dock, windsurf storage, park grounds, swimming pool, tennis courts, restaurant, barbecue shelters and camping. Optimist and Laser sailing schools plus extensive racing series in J/24, PHRF, doubles and dinghy classes shape the programme. Founded on 12 October 1932 by 51 members, the club now has over 90 years of tradition; more than 300 people practise water sports on the grounds each weekend.
History
Club Náutico Córdoba was founded on 12 October 1932 by 51 founding members of Córdoba society. The impetus was the desire to row on the newly created San Roque Reservoir. Two years later the club obtained from Doña Margarita Avanzatto, widow of Carlos Nicandro Paz, the donation of a large plot of the Estancia Santa Leocadia in Pedanía San Roque in the Punilla Valley. Nine years after that the club bought two more hectares of adjoining land from Miguel Muñoz. The clubhouse was built through an internal loan and the sale of part of the land; the architecture resembles the bridge of a cruise ship and uses stone as the main material. Later, when the government of Córdoba raised the dam level from 35 to 38 metres, the club received compensation from the expropriation and expanded the premises to their present form. Although the club was founded mainly for rowing, sailing and powerboating gained ground over the years. Today sailing is the main activity; canoeing, windsurfing and recreational powerboating remain important. With over 90 years of history and its 92nd financial year, the club is among the country's leading nautical institutions; more than 300 people use the facilities each weekend for water sports and family leisure. Traditional events such as the Sailor's Cup (19th edition 2025) and the Revolución de Mayo Regatta shape club life.
