History

Club Náutico de Almerimar was founded in 1987 by a small group of dedicated members who wanted to promote water sports in their town. The first clubhouse was built in dock 1 of Puerto Deportivo de Almerimar and, despite its modest size, proved highly operational, leading to the hosting of many important regattas. These included the Yatching-Golf regatta, the Spanish Cadet class championship, the Andalusia Cup for First Class 8, stages of the Regata Alborán and various Optimist class trophies. The club is located in Puerto Deportivo de Almerimar with 1100 berths for vessels of different draughts in El Ejido's Ensenada San Miguel. The area offers more than 3000 hours of sunshine per year with an average temperature of 20 degrees Celsius and favourable wind conditions without strong sea currents. Club facilities comprise an office, classroom, social hall, events area, boat storage, workshop zone, diving room, washing area, a 2000 m² yard, ramp for light craft, toilets and showers. The fleet consists of two First Class 8 boats (8 m, 5 people), two Raquero school boats (6 m, 6 people), one Cadet boat (3 m, 2 people), eight Optimist boats (2 m), two Laser boats (4 m), one Sprinto boat (6 m, 4 people) and three inflatable boats. The Trofeo Vintage for ILCA Master has been established since 2020, and the club co-organises the Circuito Sureste ILCA Master with clubs from Benalmádena, Marbella and Santiago de la Ribera.
