History
Club Nautique de Wimereux (CNW) is an association under French law (association loi 1901) on the Côte d’Opale, using Baie Saint Jean as its main sailing area. The website describes the venue as one of France’s best-known windsurfing spots that has produced world champions; the saying is that if you can windsurf at Wimereux, you can windsurf anywhere. The club runs holiday courses, weekend courses and private lessons from age six to adults, plus year-round programmes with a sport school, club teams and recreational sport. Former club sailors such as Victor Sename (licensed since 2016, coached by Yann Sune) and Jules Denel (French vice-champion in waves 2021) underline its competitive strength. The club regularly hosts national and international events including the North Sea Cup, the French Funboard Championship and windfoil competitions.
