Club Nautico Hamm e.V.
Club Nautico Hamm e.V. is a non-profit water sports club on the Datteln-Hamm Canal at kilometre 32.5 in Hamm-Herringen. Motorboat owners and sailors find a jetty, 19 water berths and an approx. 720 m² boat hall as winter storage plus outdoor storage on the grounds. A mobile crane lifts boats of up to 12 tonnes on fixed spring and autumn dates; a tractor moves non-trailerable boats, and the clubhouse invites social gatherings. The club offers storage for sports boats up to 12 metres, exchange of experience and further training, as well as limited guest berths by prior arrangement with the harbour master. Since its founding in 1992 by 18 sports boat enthusiasts, the secured, video-monitored site at Zum Yachthafen 2 has provided services for recreational boating.
History
On 10 July 1992 the founding meeting took place: 18 enthusiastic sports boaters founded the water sports club under the name Club Nautico Hamm. Registration in the register of associations followed promptly, as did recognition of charitable status by the Hamm tax office. At first the clubroom was nothing more than a bare steel container. However, this container stood next to a newly built hall of about 800 m², of which the club was able to lease 720 m² as boat storage. Conditions were ideal: the site in Hamm-Herringen, Lünener Straße 201 (today Zum Yachthafen 2), directly on the Datteln-Hamm Canal, offered then and now every opportunity for such services around recreational boating. Today the club has 19 water berths, the boat hall as winter storage, outdoor storage, a jetty and a cosy clubhouse. The purpose remains the promotion of water sports for motorboat owners and sailors, with mutual help for storage, wintering and boat maintenance.
