Circolo Velico Ardizio ASD
Circolo Velico Ardizio ASD is a sailing club founded in 1987 in Pesaro on the Adriatic coast, located directly on Spiaggia di Sottomonte beneath Colle Ardizio between Pesaro and Fano. As an FIV-affiliated club, it is a reference point for sailors using dinghies and catamarans and operates its own Base Nautica on 80 metres of public beach. The programme includes an FIV-authorised sailing school for children from age seven and adults, the VELA CAMP summer camp, Velaspiegata courses for people with disabilities since 2010, and regular club and social regattas. A live webcam and on-site weather station support planning on the water.
History
On 9 September 1987, Circolo Velico Ardizio (C.V.A.) was established as a non-profit sports association in the office of Pesaro notary Giuseppe Ferri. A group of sailing enthusiasts obtained a concession for part of Spiaggia di Sottomonte in Località Sottomonte Ardizio to store small sailing boats. The club began with twelve dinghies and catamarans; today most Pesaro sailors who keep their boats on the beach belong to the club, totalling around one hundred dinghies and catamarans. The fleet includes about ten A-Cat catamarans, one of the largest in central Italy. Since 1993 the C.V.A. has been officially affiliated to the Federazione Italiana Vela (F.I.V.) and belongs to the tenth national zone. In 2000 the club received an official concession for 80 metres of public beach. Between late 2008 and early 2009 the C.V.A. built its Base Nautica on this site. Since 1987 the club has become the preferred meeting point for dinghy and catamaran sailors and related seaside activities. Velaspiegata inclusive sailing has been offered since 2010; in 2017 the club celebrated its 30th anniversary on 2 September. The club organises annual FIV sailing school courses, the VELASCUOLA school project involving hundreds of pupils, the VELA CAMP summer camp, Vela Day events with the FIV, and a social regatta calendar including the traditional Regata del Porto on the first Sunday of July.
