Circolo Nautico Torino

Circolo Nautico Torino has been a non-profit sailing sports association on Lake Viverone at Punta Becco south of Viverone in Piedmont since 1965. The club, easily reached from the Turin area, promotes seamanship and a love of sailing and operates a FIV-registered sailing school affiliated with the Italian Sailing Federation and CONI. The extensive site includes a pier, large lawn with neatly stored dinghies, a warm nautical hall, veranda, Piola del circolo bar-restaurant, showers, sail storage cove and free use of club boats for members. The sailing school offers basic and advanced dinghy courses plus summer weeks for children from age six; regular training and regattas including an optional FIV regatta finale shape the programme. Since 1967 the club has also been home to the Italian Fireball association, founded here on Lake Viverone.

History

Circolo Nautico Torino was founded in 1965 as a non-profit amateur sports association based mainly on volunteer work, aiming to spread seamanship and a love of sailing. The club base has always been on Lake Viverone at Punta Becco at the southern end of the lakeside promenade; beyond the blue gate members find a large lawn down to the water, dozens of dinghies in neat rows and tall trees on the shore. Over the decades the club became a fixture of Piedmontese sailing: the school is registered with FIV and CONI, and in 1967 the Italian Fireball association was founded on Lake Viverone—a tradition still carried on by a close-knit racing team. In the 2010s accessibility at the water was improved: in summer 2019 a sturdy walkway with handrail, step and non-slip mat was installed for bathers, children and people with motor difficulties; a wheelchair lift on the pier aids boarding. The board is elected every three years; the current council was confirmed on 30 November 2025 for 2026–2028. Besides regattas such as the Eusebio Dallan Memorial, winter championships and VelaViva15, the club runs social initiatives, school outreach and inclusive sailing days with social services. Several former students now race at national and international level.
