Cercle Nautique Calédonien
The Cercle Nautique Calédonien (CNC) is New Caledonia’s major nautical club, bringing together sailors and big-game anglers around a shared passion for the sea. The club runs a marina with more than 600 berths plus a members-only haul-out and hardstand area, and offers a sailing school, big-game fishing and rallies. Throughout the year the CNC organises many sailing events, including the Corail 600, the Tour J/70 and championships for J/70, dinghies and cruisers. Club life is also shaped by workshops for children and adults, conferences, training courses and catering. As heir to New Caledonia’s oldest big-game fishing club, the CNC combines tradition with a broad programme for leisure and racing sailors.
History
The Cercle Nautique Calédonien sees itself as the worthy heir to New Caledonia’s oldest big-game fishing club and continues that sporting tradition to this day. Each year the association organises about ten trophies and challenges under the rules of the International Game Fish Association (IGFA). At the same time the CNC is strongly committed to sailing: discovery, development, democratisation and competitive practice, whether in keelboats or monotypes, fleet or match racing, leisure or competition. With the first edition of the Corail 600 in June 2026 — a 600-nautical-mile offshore race through the Coral Sea Natural Park in partnership with the Government of New Caledonia — the club sets a new sporting highlight. Through its “Coups de pouce” scheme the CNC also supports members’ nautical projects abroad, reflecting a long-standing bond with New Caledonia’s maritime culture.
